What We Actually Do
The Sin City Repeater Group was founded on a simple idea: amateur radio should be experienced, not merely discussed.
Since our founding, members have toured broadcast facilities, activated parks, climbed towers, built repeater systems, operated contests, mentored new hams, and gathered around the table to talk about the hobby we all enjoy.
We don’t measure success by how many meetings we hold.
We measure it by the number of experiences our members take home.

Broadcast Station Tours
One of our first club outings brought members behind the scenes of multiple Las Vegas FM broadcast stations.
Members toured professional studios, transmitter facilities, STL systems, and broadcast infrastructure while learning directly from experienced broadcast engineers.
The evening concluded with HF operating from a much quieter RF environment than most operators enjoy at home, giving members the opportunity to put what they had learned immediately into practice.
Ham Radio Happy Hours
Amateur radio is built on conversations, and not all of them need to happen over a repeater.
Our Ham Radio Happy Hours at Flowing Tide Pub give operators from across the Las Vegas Valley a relaxed place to meet, talk radios, trade ideas, plan projects, and put faces to the call signs they hear on the air.
No formal program. No parliamentary procedure. No former mid-level Fortune 500 employees hijacking progress to relive their corporate glory days.
Just good food, cold drinks, radio talk, and the people helping build a more active amateur radio community in Southern Nevada.
You can always hear about the next one afterward.
It is more fun to be there.
Parks on the Air (POTA)
Portable operating has become one of the fastest-growing areas of amateur radio, and our members regularly head into the field.
Whether activating a park for the first time or chasing contacts across the country, POTA provides an opportunity to sharpen operating skills, experiment with antennas, and simply enjoy getting on the air.
If you’ve never operated portable before, we’ll help you get there.
HF Contesting
The Sin City Repeater Group is proud to be Southern Nevada’s only ARRL-recognized DX and Contest Club.
Members participate throughout the year in digital, voice, and CW contests ranging from casual operating events to major international competitions.
Whether your goal is to make your first contest contact or to compete at a serious level, there is always someone willing to help.
Repeater Building & Technical Projects
Tower Work
Some members spend their weekends climbing towers instead of talking about them.
From replacing antennas and feedlines to improving repeater sites throughout Southern Nevada, our volunteers maintain the infrastructure that keeps operators connected every day.
New Ham Support
Everyone starts somewhere.
Our repeaters have earned a reputation for welcoming new operators and helping them gain confidence on the air. No question is too basic. We’ve all been there.

Special Event Stations
